About Jean

Weaving is a vibrant and creative outlet for fiber enthusiasts.  Weaving encompasses design, implementation and fabrication of many fibers and techniques.  It engages creativity and enhances intellectual ability.
I have been weaving for about 14 years, and consider weaving my passion. I recently completed the five year Master Weaving program through Olds College Continuing Education, in Alberta. CA.  Through the program, and on my own, I have a lot of experience with many different fibers and many weave structures.
I enjoy teaching one or two students in my studio, with a very flexible, individualized schedule. For out-of-town students, there is an option of renting our AirBnb guest house which has a full kitchen, queen bed and deck with a view of the mountains.
Currently I am exploring learning to sew luxury garments with my woven fabric.  I particularly love weaving fabric with silk and merino or linen, for finely crafted garments.
My studio is in the town of Franklin, NC, about 70 miles southwest of Asheville, and 2.5 hours north of Atlanta,GA.
I participate in an informal weaving group called Nonah Weavers which meets once a week in a woodland cabin.  This community group has a history dating back to the 1950’s and is unique in its structure and opportunities.  We welcome visitors.
